Welcome to
the beginner course section. There are 30 sessions... this course was designed to be done at the rate of one chess sessions per day, so this what we recommend you do. Sessions marked as "Review" Means you should take the day to go over everything learned in the course up to that point; we strongly recommend not skipping these "review" sessions.

Remember that this course was meant to give you a solid chess playing foundation so please try to refrain from using your instincts when practicing playing against others and try as best you can to apply the learned principles. We can't stress this last point enough, even if it means loosing games... doing you best to try and ignore your own instincts and instead apply the learned techniques is the only way to build a good foundation. By constantly forcing yourself to think using the tools you will learn in this course you will mold your chess playing style with the right foundation and it will become second nature to use these techniques and before long you will start winning games!

At the end of every session, we recommend pracicing and / or doing some chess puzzles. This site has chess puzzles and also a chess forum so you can chat with other players. http://www.chessnerds.com
