THE X RAY

The X ray is a technique to attack a piece even if there is an enemy piece in the way. It also allows us to capture a piece even if the capturing piece doesn't seem protected. Only the Queen, Bishop and rook can perform an X Ray. As most techniques, it is easier to understand with a visual example, so go look at it J.

Here black attacks the white pawn on a5 two times via the X ray! Black can capture the pawn by 1…Rxa5 and then if white captures the rook by 2.Rxa5, black takes the white rook by 2…Rd5xa5!!
